1. Use of Services

Our web portal is provided for the convenience of Lapel residents, businesses, and visitors. You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes. You must not use the site in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the site or impairment of the availability or accessibility of the site.

2. Resident Accounts

Certain features of this website require you to create a Resident Account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. The Town reserves the right to terminate or suspend accounts that provide false information or violate these terms.

3. User-Submitted Content

When you submit content to our site (such as reporting an issue, submitting a business to the directory, or participating in polls), you affirm that the information provided is factual and accurate to the best of your knowledge. False reporting, especially regarding code violations or abandoned vehicles, may be subject to penalty under town ordinances.

4. Town Directory and Business Listings

Business listings submitted to the Shop Local directory are subject to review and approval by town administrators. The Town of Lapel reserves the right to reject, modify, or remove any listing that is deemed inappropriate, inaccurate, or unrelated to the local community.

5. Limitation of Liability

The information on this website is provided "as is" without any representations or warranties, express or implied. The Town of Lapel makes no representations or warranties in relation to this website or the information and materials provided on this website. The Town will not be liable for any indirect, special, or consequential loss arising out of your use of this site.

Lapel Alerts SMS Terms

Town of Lapel SMS alerts provide recurring public safety, trash and recycling, water, road closure, and community notices in the categories you select. Signup requires separate explicit SMS consent and confirmation from your mobile phone. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of receiving town services.

While SMS service is being set up, you may join the waiting list. No texts are sent from waiting-list signup. You must return to Lapel Alerts and confirm your phone when enrollment opens before receiving alerts. You can withdraw your waiting-list signup using that browser’s controls or contact Town Hall.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. You can also stop a confirmed SMS subscription on Lapel Alerts. If you previously replied STOP, text UNSTOP to clear the carrier block, then complete a new website confirmation to re-enroll.

For support, contact Town Hall through Contact Us. Review our Privacy Policy. Delivery can be delayed or fail due to carrier or network conditions. SMS alerts are supplemental and are not a substitute for calling 911 or following official emergency instructions. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. Modifications to Terms

The Town of Lapel reserves the right to revise these Terms of Service at any time without notice. By using this website, you agree to be bound by the then-current version of these Terms of Service.

7. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Indiana, and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Madison County, Indiana.
